Tips For Waiting On Emergency Tow Truck Service In The Summer Heat

If you find yourself in an emergency automobile situation in the middle of summer, you might have more issues than just a broken down car. Waiting for tow truck service in the middle of summer can bring on other possible emergency situations that you should consider. Here are three tips for keeping cool while waiting for a tow truck driver in the summer heat.

1. Call for Service Right Away

If you find yourself having car troubles in the summer heat, don't spend too much time troubleshooting before calling a tow truck driver, such as from Niemans Service Inc. Heat can cause exhaustion and heatstroke rapidly. If you are in a remote location, extra minutes waiting for your tow truck driver might make your situation even more dire. Even if you resolve your issue and have to cancel your tow, at least you'll have your bases covered in the summer heat.

3. Find a Safe Place to Wait

While it might be really hot out, it isn't worth it to run down your battery with your AC if you can help it. This might just compound your problems and can make it harder for tow truck drivers to initially assess your issues if the battery has run down as well. Since you won't be waiting in your car, seek out another place to wait as quickly as possible. This might be as simple as a shaded spot under trees or an overpass, or seeking out a gas station or restaurant where you can wait. 4. Keep an Emergency Kit in Your Trunk

If you don't already have an emergency kit in the trunk of your car, it is a good idea to stock this up in case of future emergencies. Water is essential, especially in the summer heat. If you do find yourself somewhere with little shelter and not many options to cool down, the last thing you want to do is put yourself in danger of dehydration or heatstroke. Having enough water for yourself and your passengers is just as important as flares, a blanket, or car-related tools.

Having car troubles in the middle of summer can be annoying, but this shouldn't be dangerous. If you can take some precautions ahead of time and be smart in an emergency situation, your wait time for a tow truck driver won't compound your problems. While your tow truck service will try to come to your aid as fast as they can, be smart in the summer heat. Do what you can to make your wait safe, efficient, and out of the heat.
